Rep. Brenda Lawrence will host a Winter Resource Fair to bring together 14th District constituents with local agencies, organizations, and companies that can assist residents in preparation for the fall and winter season. This includes helping residents with applications for reduced utility bills as well as affordable housing needs and food assistance. The goal is to address these issues now to prevent the life-threatening loss of heat and water services, nutrition, clothing, and shelter during severe cold weather months.

Southfield – The city celebrated Veterans Day a day early — just in time to wish the U.S. Marine Corps a happy birthday.

The city’s annual commemoration fell on the 240th anniversary of the Marines’ founding on Nov. 10, 1775, in the early months of the Revolutionary War.

Mayor Donald Fracassi and his predecessor, U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, D-Southfield, were among the attendees, who included veterans, students and emergency responders.
