Rep. Brenda Lawrence blasts Republicans for failing to invite Gov. Rick Snyder to testify in Flint Oversight Hearing
Michigan governor won't testify before Congress this time: Republicans did not invite Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to testify at a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the Flint water crisis on Feb. 3. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, who requested the hearing, blasted the move last night. “Gov. Rick Snyder was at the top of my list of witnesses due to the central role that he has played in this manmade crisis,” the Michigan Democrat said in a statement. “I am deeply disappointed at the Majority’s lack of commitment to a thorough and meaningful hearing.” A spokeswoman for Lawrence said Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz assured her there would be more hearings, and Lawrence will push for Snyder's presence at the witness table.
