CONGRESSWOMAN BRENDA LAWRENCE TO ATTEND OCCUPY CORNER KICK-OFF

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) will join Council Member Sheffield, Mayor Duggan, Congresswoman Lawrence, Chief Craig, Sheriff Napoleon and a host of others to kick-off Occupy the Corner – Detroit 2016.

“I have witnessed first-hand, the devastation of violence in our community and I am continuously inspired by the unity and outpouring of love by our community after such events take place. There is power in the community and each day, I witness the power of the people in our great community. I am privileged to represent and serve this constituency and will continue to fight to improve my community, my State, and nation. Everyone deserves a community safe from violence, events such as “Occupy the Corners” promote and encourage community investment in making this world a better place,” said Congresswoman Brenda L. Lawrence.

This year volunteers will hit the blocks in one of Detroit’s highest crime and impoverished neighborhoods to bring resources and hope to residents. On Friday, June 10, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the “Occupy the Corners” event will kick off its 10th annual summer-long initiative.
