Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence Issues Response to Brussels Terror Attacks

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) today released the following statement in response to a series of terror attacks in Brussels that have resulted in multiple deaths and many more injured individuals.

"My deepest sympathy and most heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families in the Brussels terror attacks. It is moments like these that remind us that we must remain steadfast and resolute in our fight against terrorism both here at home and abroad. Such moments also remind us that retreating to a position of fear is not acceptable, nor is it an effective way to deal with terrorism. We can’t let such atrocities weaken strong democratic ideals or allow them to be used as an excuse to target our fellow American citizens and those seeking asylum. America succeeds on the strength of our values and those values are what we must use to guide us now as we work with our Belgian allies, and our allies around the world, to address this insidious threat.”
