CONGRESSWOMAN BRENDA LAWRENCE SUPPORTS INTRODUCTION OF BILL AIMED AT ADDRESSING NATION’S LOOMING WATER INFRASTRUCTURE CRISIS
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) joined Congressman John Conyers, Jr. during a press conference to announce the introduction of the Water Affordability, Transparency, Equity and Reliability (WATER) Act. This legislation would provide dedicated funding to modernize U.S. water infrastructure.
“Today, I stand with the hundreds of cities and towns across this nation that are at risk due to the instability of American’s drinking water infrastructure. It is time that we ensure every American citizen the right to clean, safe drinking water,” said Congresswoman Lawrence.
“The WATER Act is the most comprehensive and robust funding proposal this country has seen. This piece of legislation closes the long-term funding gap facing clean water infrastructure systems across the country and restores the security of America’s water system for years to come.
“I look forward to the bipartisan support of my colleagues in Congress and urge the swift passage of the WATER Act.”
