Congresswoman Lawrence on Passage of Postal Service Reform Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) released a statement regarding support of the passage of the Postal Service Reform Act through the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform:
“As the only Member of Congress with first-hand experience in the Postal Service—a wide-ranging career spanning over 30 years, I am passionate about the importance of the Postal Service to this country and the support that it requires. I joined the Oversight and Government Reform Committee knowing that the Postal Services falls under its jurisdiction. After several hearings and meetings, I am glad our committee demonstrated a strong commitment to the Postal Service. This bipartisan consensus is a powerful example of how the American people benefit greatly when we work together for a common good.
“As one of the only government agencies that touches each and every American on a daily basis, today is a day to celebrate the passage of the Postal Service Reform Act through our committee. I believe that this legislation will help stabilize the Postal Service and allow it to thrive well into the future.”
