Press Release
Rep. Lawrence congratulates candidates, urges cooperation going foward.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) on Wednesday released the following statement regarding the results of the Nov. 3, 2015 elections.

“I would like to thank each and every one of my constituents in the 14th Congressional District who cast their vote in the November 3rd elections. The 14th District is one of the richest congressional districts in the nation thanks to the diversity of cultures, ethnicities, religions and ages that call this region home. By engaging in your civic duty and making your voice heard through your vote, you are practicing democracy in its purest form, which promotes all of our constitutional rights and further embraces the diversity that makes the 14th District great.”

“I would also like to congratulate all of the candidates who participated in the local elections. The courage and dedication required to run for public office -- and the desire to serve our communities and our country -- is to be commended. That is why I want to congratulate Ken Siver, the new Mayor of Southfield, and his opponent Sylvia Jordan. Southfield was fortunate to have two candidates of such high caliber to choose from and your races demonstrated your commitment to democracy and serving our communities.”

“Southfield was not the only community to hold elections in the 14th District. Other municipalities, such as Keego Harbor, Oak Park, Orchard Lake, Lathrup Village, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe Woods, and the Village of Gross Pointe Shores, held elections as well. To all the candidates, I offer my heartfelt congratulations.”

“Finally, I encourage everyone involved in yesterday’s elections to commit themselves to moving forward and working together to best serve our communities, our state, and our nation. As elected officials and candidates, our primary focus and concern must always be the communities that we represent. That is why we must now pull together, in the spirit of cooperation and good will, in order to address the needs of our deserving constituents and fellow citizens.”
