ICYMI: U.S. Rep. Lawrence Hosts Back-To-School Town Hall
Southfield, MI - Yesterday, U.S. Representative Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) hosted an in-person and virtual town hall to answer questions as families prepare to return to school this fall. Rep. Lawrence was joined by Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, Dr. Calandra Green from the Oakland County Health Department, Southfield Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Martin-Green, and Detroit Public Schools Deputy Superintendent Iranetta Wright. The town hall was hosted in-person at the Southfield Public Library and was live streamed on Zoom and Facebook. The panelists discussed steps being taken to ensure the health and safety of students, teachers, and staff. You can watch the town hall here.
"The education and safety of our students, teachers, and staff are my top priorities. This town hall was an opportunity to address the concerns and questions that parents had about what being back to school looks like,” said Rep. Lawrence. “As a result of the American Rescue Plan, our schools have the funding necessary to purchase PPE, technology, and other resources to put education and safety first while giving parents the peace of mind they need and deserve. I will continue to work with the Biden Administration, our local and state officials, and our school staff to make this transition back as seamless and safe as possible.”
