Lawrence Supports House Oversight Committee request for Gov. Snyder Flint testimony
WASHINGTON, D.C. –Rep. Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, today issued a statement supporting the Committee’s letter to Gov. Snyder inviting him to correct or supplement his sworn testimony in 2016 related to the Flint drinking water crisis.
In light of recent sworn testimony by a Snyder aide about when Gov. Snyder learned of the Legionnaires' disease outbreaks in Flint, Reps. Gowdy and Cummings have invited Snyder to address any potential discrepancies in his testimony by October 25. "In order to resolve this discrepancy in recollection, please supply the committee with any additional relevant information you have concerning the date upon which you first learned of the Legionnaires' disease," the letter said. "If necessary, you may also choose to amend or supplement your testimony."
“As a member of this Committee, I was proud to stand with my colleagues from Michigan and demand that Governor Snyder testify before us last year,” said Rep. Lawrence. “I stand with them again today. The people of Flint have had their trust repeatedly violated, and they deserve to know the truth. I strongly support Chairman Gowdy and Ranking Member Cummings’ request for information and I look forward to Governor Snyder’s detailed response.”
