U.S. Rep. Lawrence Issues Statement on the Reopening of Manufacturing Plants in Michigan
Detroit, MI. – Today, Representative Brenda L. Lawrence issued a statement following Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Order to reopen manufacturing plants across the state of Michigan.
“The reopening of manufacturing plants across Michigan is a tremendous sign for our state and local economy,” said Rep. Lawrence. “Manufacturing jobs account for nearly 20% of the state’s economy and is critical for stabilization during the current pandemic. The gradual phase of lifting the Stay at Home order will allow for the health and safety of Michigan residents to remain a priority as we all continuously work together to combat COVID-19.”
“I have worked closely with Governor Whitmer’s office to ensure that it is safe for UAW employees to safely return to work. The magnitude of loss suffered by the auto industry during COVID-19 is inevitable, but we are here to get the Motor City back up and running safely.”
