U.S. Rep. Lawrence Statement on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework
Washington, DC - Today, U.S. Representative Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) issued the following statement regarding the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework. Yesterday, President Joe Biden announced his support for the infrastructure framework.
“Without a doubt, we need to fix our country’s crumbling infrastructure. There’s been too much talk and not enough action. I’m encouraged by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework—the largest investment in our infrastructure in a century. This proposal puts us on the path to Build Back Better by rebuilding our roads and bridges; delivering clean and safe drinking water; increasing access to reliable, high-speed internet; and investing in our electric vehicle infrastructure.
“While this framework improves the lives of millions of Americans, we need to make sure we’re making the same investments in every part of our nation’s infrastructure, including human capital like child care and education. We cannot let this go unaddressed. This pandemic has disproportionately affected women, especially women of color, and it has erased the hard-fought gains we’ve made before this crisis began. I look forward to working with my congressional colleagues to pass an infrastructure bill that reflects the needs and priorities of the families, workers, and small businesses in Michigan’s 14th Congressional District.”
