Watch Reps. Lawrence and Hill Discuss "Skilled Workforce Initiative" in Detroit
Congresswoman Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) recently hosted Rep. French Hill (AR-02) in Detroit to promote their message about the need for the federal government to support programs and career opportunities that don't require a four-year college degree. The two Members of Congress visited FOCUS:Hope, a Detroit-based nonprofit organization that helps young people and adults in the community in obtaining the job skills and training they need to be successful in life. They also visited DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital, the largest of all the Metropolitan Detroit hospitals, where they spent time working with X-ray technicians before traveling to one of DTE Energy's worksites where they spoke with several linemen conducting electrical maintenance on power lines. Both locations showcased successful jobs and careers that offer workers good pay and a chance for advancement in a career that can support families.
